Introduction

Hey everyone, this will be a guide to the hero called “Night-Stalker”. As this is the first time for me doing a guide, I hope everyone will be satisfied with my content.

This is his lore:
Of the Night Stalker, there is no history–only stories. There are ancient tales woven into the lore of every race and every culture, of an impossible time before sunlight and daytime, when night reigned alone and the world was covered with the creatures of darkness–creatures like Balanar the Night Stalker.

The Pros and Cons of playing the night-stalker

Pros
Strong ganker
Hard to kill if used correctly
People will fear him during the first night
People will fear him during the day if he has a very good start

Cons
The first 12mins of the game is the most crucial part for him
Low mana pool

Items

The item build is a typical night-stalker build.
Start off with 1set of tango , 1healing salve , 1clarity , 2GoS and 1branch .

Try to get the core items before the first night.
The reason why you would want to get the Urn of Shadow is because it allows you to gank non-stop with the mana reg and the urn charge which will heal you or your ally or damage your enemy.
Phase-Boots which provides some nice damage early on and the ability to run through creeps is the most important thing that you want to have.
Stout-Shield and Cloak to allow you to soak up some nukes and physical hits early on.

Once you have some gold earn during the first night, there are 3different routes you could choose.
If you choose to focus more towards tanking , upgrade your stout-shield and cloak into vanguard and pipe. At the same time, work towards the black-king-bar(BKB).
If you choose to foucs more towards fire-power , sell of your shield and cloak, get sange and BKB. upgrade the sange into Heaven Halberd and work towards the helm of dominator.
If you choose to foucs more towards map-control , get the aghanims secpter and BKB. Work towards the skull basher.

Once you have the following items above, you may choose to go for the luxury items.
Assault and Hearts is always a good choice, so you might want to go for these 2 items first.

Now you might be wondering why each different routes have different items excluding BKB. What I can say is that you have to try it out so you will understand why I have suggested these builds.

Skills

Now we come to the part of making use of the skill points.
Most Stalker players tend to get 1 level of ultimate at level 6 which I think is a mistake as the first level of his ultimate only last 25seconds and has a cooldown of 3mins. I find it best leveling it at level 10 and get the 2nd level of it at level 11 . Having a few more levels in hunter of the night before skilling his ultimate is way more effective imo.

You may choose to pump in some stats instead of fear at level 13&14 as when you reach that level, it might be the 2nd morning and you won’t be able to make full use of his fear unless you choose to use Darkness.

How do I make full use of Night-Stalker skills

Now you might be thinking why would I add this in.
Well, in my experience I have seen many night-stalker failed at ganking, unable to make full use of this hero potential, rush in the front lines taking damage and died for no trade, etc.

Well, have no fear. I’ll try my best to explain on how to make full use of his skills.

Note: All the content below for this chapter will be based on organize-games whereby you have team-mates to help you out.

Ganking(Usage of void/fear)
First of all, always have someone to follow you to do ganking. A hero with some disables is prefered like(ShadowShaman, Beastmaster, Vengeful Spirit, etc.)
When you decided to engage on the enemy, always void first follow up with fear.
now, if the enemy is a decent player, he will automatically use his teleport scroll. This is where your ally comes in to disable him again and both of you can enjoy raping him.

^Tldr version:

1. Get an ally that has some form of disable to follow you to gank
2. Once you have decided on a target, use your void.
3. Follow up with fear
4. Use any urn charge if you have on your target(Skip this if you dont have any urn charge)
5. Ask your ally to disable him to secure the kill
6. Profit! (Rinse and repeat)

Making use of darkness
Well, this skill is quite simple to use.
During night time, just on it as this skill doesn’t require any mana. Night stalker dota 2 items steam
The most problem part is when to use it during the day-time.
Well, you can choose to turn it on in this few cases:

1. If you’re pushing down a tower and your opponent is trying to defend it.(Which might lead into a team-fight)
2. If a sudden team-fight broke out
3. If you’re defending your base/tower

Team-Fights

Okay so most players that I knew tend to ask me: what should I do in team-fight as a night-stalker?

Well, normally the night-stalker has to be in the front-lines, take down stragglers/heroes that are off-position from his team. If a 5v5 team-fight occurs, it would be best to take out the supporters before they are able to throw out any-skills unless your team have their own reasoning to foucs on the others.

Creeping / Jungling

So we know what items to get, skills to learn, how to make full use of the skills. Now which lane do I go as a Night-Stalker?

Normally you would want to have the middle-lane as he will get to level 7 and above the fastest so you can do you ganking asap with your core items. unless your team have decided to put you in a tri-lane or a duel-lane regardless of top/mid/bottom

Level 1 jungle is a nono for a night-stalker as it will be not as effective as him on a lane.

Summary

Overall, Night-Stalker is considered as 1 of the best-ganker/semi-carry/tank in the game.
Although his down-side is the first 12min of the game because of his slow movement speed and low attack-speed, his disadvantage can be compensate with his first night.
