Game Modes

All Pick (AP)

Players are given 1 minute, in this one minute they can choose any hero they want. All the heroes are made available to the players in this mode as long as another player has not already chosen them.

Captain’s Mode

This is the standard mode for competitive play. In this mode, captains of the two teams ban and pick heroes from the pool for their team. After captain’s pick, it’s time for respective players to choose from the five their captain had chosen. Each captain gets 30 seconds for a pick and 35 seconds for a ban.

Single Draft(SD)

In this mode, all players are needed to select a Hero from a set of three heroes randomly chosen for them (1 of each Strength, Agility, Intelligence). But, random selection and swapping of heroes are

Random Draft(Rd)

In this mode, players take a turn of choosing from a pool of 50 heroes that are randomly made available. The players on each team only have 20 seconds to make their selection when it is their turn. Initially, they are given a pre-picking time of 5 seconds. Teams pick their heroes alternatively, whenever it the respective team’s turn to pick, also anyone from that team can pick for themselves. They get upto 35 seconds to pick a hero. Once the time expires, each player that hasn’t selected a hero will lose 2 gold per second.

All Random

Automatic assignment of a random hero to all the players. Repick can happen once to get a new random hero.

Mid Only

In this mode, there is the most freedom available amongst all modes as the players can pick any hero, even the same as other players. This mode is great for one to one matches.

Least Played(LP)

Similar to all pick, but except choosing from the top, players have to choose from a list of their least played heroes. The pool limits each player’s heroes, by blocking their 40 most played heroes also hero swapping is disabled in this mode.

Random Ability Draft

When in the game players account levels reach 11 or more, they can play games where everyone takes turns drafting random abilities with initial hero models randomly assigned.

Diretide

Hero picking is similar to all pick mode. The mode has an objective to collect more taffy in your bucket than the enemy team. Greevil Taffy is dropped by smaller models of Roshan, and if a hero holds them they will have to lose their HP by 7% while holding. Taffy can be stolen from the enemy bucket and drop upon Hero death. This mode is no longer playable.

Wraith Night

In this mode, at the very start you need to pick certain heroes. Five players are assigned to defend the Wraith King’s throne from themed waves of enemies/monsters. All around the game you collect gold by protecting towers and killing enemies and also finally killing the Wraith King. This mode is not playable anymore.
