Dota 2 quickcast double tap ranch
Dota 2 quickcast double tap ranch
Who else here wants this as an option?
With normal click casting, you can double tap the hotkey to self-cast an item or ability. This allows quick dodges with Eul’s and force staff, lotus orb counters, etc. Quick cast hotkeys, however, force you to manually target your own hero to self cast.
Quick self cast would be a toggleable option to allow your quickcast hotkeys more versatility. If you have the option on, when you press the quick cast hotkey for a self-castable item/ability and there is no target under your cursor, the item/ability self-casts instead.
The purpose of using quick cast keybinds is to more quickly execute what you are trying to accomplish. Forcing you to target yourself, especially in the middle of a hectic fight or in reaction to an enemy ability, goes completely against the point. Quick self casting would solve this problem.
Double tap ability or item is already “cast on self”.
The only thing that doesn’t work like this would be Bloodstone.
You can already do this really. The example is that I have quickcast for all my items and spells (except 1 item slot reserved for blink/FS and one for tp). But then I have all my keys bound for normal cast as the same but with ALT held. so item slot 1 is ‘z’ for quick then ‘ALT + z’ for normal. Which means I can hold alt and double tap z to self cast with the item there (normally euls).

That still takes a hell of a lot longer(yes fractions of a second but in DotA that’s life and death)/more complicated fingering than just pressing a quick cast key with no target to self cast.
I see what you’re saying, however I would argue that having to make sure my cursor is not over anything probably makes it take longer than just holding a key modifier. Also much harder to have a miss-click accident. In any case, I think it’s the best we’ve got right now and you should give it a crack if you are running quick cast.
