well, i think you might misunderstand about support roles
buying wards, win at a lane is nice
pushing the lanes, and have some good items is also nice
but your(as a support) main purpose is to support a carry
and that is all about support roles

still i partly agree with your opinions
but after all, everything is for a win.

Someone understands. Whatever it is, the system stinks. You have feeding morons actually reporting players who try to think out of the box.

Worst of all, volvo lets these people triumph.

dota is no longer the same. there’s a lot of versatility in the game than just babysitting a carry. I can play any role and when I supp an AM, you do not know the frustration making space for an AM for 30 minutes only to see him do less than 5k damage by the time the game is over.

I speak not just from the position of an AM on my team, but enemy team as well. This is the case in 80%+ of AM games. They hardly end well. So ‘support the carry’ doesn’t always apply that easily.

Worst thing is if you say something like:
“PLEASE DO NOT PICK AM”

they will even more so pick am. and immediately. some ego, pride, stubbornness, cant take orders attitude.

this is my solution if you would read.

So these in game reports need a rework in my opinion. I was playing support role the other day and I wanted to play something of a push strategy. I picked nature’s prophet as a pos 4 with axe on offlane. I got reported as not playing my lane despite me and axe getting kills very early on. I bought force staff since enemy had a slark and a necronomicon since he got shadow blade and i was using it to farm and deward enemy jungle and push lanes. At the end of the game we lose and they tell me i was reported for not playing my role ( bought wards and sentries as well).
Have a behaviour score of 8k.

I feel something needs to be done about this.

Why do you think valve merge the party and solo become one ? Thats because you could party as 5 and still got your rank up + no report from your teammate. So yeah party of 5 is one of the solution of this situation. I hope you could have friend to party and play the game with.

Ps: i hope this could help a little bit. Maybe not every body could use my solution. Especially solo player. But still i hope this could help.

personally, i would never play prophet as any kind of support as i feel his kit is better suited for pos 3 or higher. the reason i bring this up is because you need to remember people have set ideals on what heroes play in what position. most people (ESPECIALLY in the lower bracket) would have seen NP as a ‘carry choice’ over a roamer. same with the more versatile picks (SK, Pudge, ES, Phoenix Etc)

communication is key, perhaps making sure next time you let them know ‘im playing a pos 4 but in more of a pushing role’, perhaps they’ll be more accepting. alternatively, there are actual ‘support heroes’ who are great at pushing! Leshrac, Shadow Shaman come immediately to mind, and people are more accepting of these as they fit into there ‘ideal support’

also, if memory serves reports work on a Per Game Basis, not a Per User. so you may find these idiots will report you, but another group will be more open to the idea. Dota 2 deward jungle junction

at the end of the day though, if you’ve got idiots in the lobby, they’ll say they’re gonna report you regardless of your playstyle or involvement. these are the same guys that pick slark, flame you all game and then ask for a commend cus they got a high kill count. they’re not worth your time, or the crayons trying to make them better.

That’s your personal opinion. Even pro players have used prophet as support. Doesn’t make it non-legit. If you’re a good player, you will make any hero work.
