1 million km. 115 CDI, 2.2l. Original engine, original gearbox, no major repairs. In Africa of all places, which isn’t known for high quality diesel or good road conditions. Though of course the Vito engine isn’t as highly tuned as the ones used in the C class.

Then an A 160 CDI with 400000, another one with 320000, E 200 CDI with 620000 km, another with 537000, 500000, E 220 with 512000, and so on. 13000 Merc diesel currently on sale with more than 150000 km, built after 2000.

Oh yes, and a 2009 220 CDI. http://suchen. mobile. de/auto/search. html? s. MAGE_UNREPAIRED At least a few have reached 150k or more after 3 years. Seems to be ok, I guess.

My old neighbor had an older W210 E220 CDI. Previously I asked him on the performance and also any diesel, he said very good.

When the car value was around RM80000, he has to cough up RM20,000 to replace the nozzles and other diesel accessories.

Well, I am all for diesel car, but not the Euro2M diesel. Euro2M diesel comes with 0.05% sulfur (which is ok) and it also comes free with 0.05% water (by volume), 0.01% ash and 0.10% carbon residue. (these are no good)

In my company, we have bought some news European prime movers (lorry head) and a few already “kena” the nozzle problem. Some model with ECU controlling the nozzles, the engine cannot function properly. These prime movers requires Euro 3 or higher.

I believe both BMW and MB are reliable, except our MY diesel sucks.

Our diesel only conforms to Euro 2M, where both BMW and MB may require Euro 3 or higher.

Yeah bro. that is my concern too.

Both cars are good, alternative would be a new Skoda Superb (A6, E class and 5 series competitor from VW).

Diesels are usually extremely reliable, old Merc diesels were renowned to go on forever. 600000 km were no problem, many went on towards 1 million, . there is a 240 D that did 4,6 million km with 3 engines, so each did more than 1 million km.

Of course the older ones had less parts that could go wrong, but the new ones shouldn’t be that bad either.

yeah. thats why. merc diesel like taxi can go very good mileage
